I have been playing with windows 7 when the pre-beta version of windows 7 had been released. I was so happy to see the different new feature on the windows 7 in respect to the older version of operating system, and performance was awesome…….I too was surprised to learn hidden control panel applets of windows 7 as well in Windows Vista. I didn’t knew it before until I read some article related to regedit on windows7 and Windows Vista.Here sharing my experience on the hidden applets of the control panel in windows 7 and Windows Vista.

There are some hidden applet in the windows 7 and Windows Vista that are default hidden….don’t know why…but some of them are really useful the beginner and expert too. so Here I am providing the tutorial how to access these hidden applet of control panel.

Get to RUN—> type REGEDIT and press Return…….(Ctrl+R gives the run window)

Now go the this branch of the regedit…..HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\don’t load

Here the Snapshot of that portion of the Window….just click on the don’t load and see the control panel entries on the ride-side of the pane.Â

Simple deleting the ‘don’t load’ key will revile all the hidden apps….but there are some apps that already exists on the control panel….and that might be appear double in your control panel…so I suggest you to try with deleting those apps those are not in your control panel. like
hdwwiz.cplappwiz.cplncpa.cplsysdm.cpl

desk.cpl

joy.cpl

Firewall.cpl

collab.cpl

irprops.cpl

tabletpc.cpl

bthprops.cpl

infocardcpl.cpl

Those were the steps for reveling the hidden apps of control panel in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.it is easily adopted on the Windows vista….but in case of the Windows 7 you have to take a permission as security is upgraded then of vista….you can’t work on this key unless you get permission. Here is the procedure how to get the permission.

Right-click on the “don’t load” key and select “Permissions…“.Â

It’ll open a dialog box, Click on “Advanced” button.Â

It’ll open another dialog box, Go to “Owner” tab.Â

Select your Username from the list and click on “Apply” button and then OK.

Again click on OK button in the first dialog box.

Now again right-click on the same key and select “Permissions…“.

Select your Username in the list and check the “Allow” option for “Full Control“.

Click on Apply button and then OK.

  Here the new Control Panel you see after your edit. Redmark shows the new apps that has been added

I think you guys will enjoy this trick….

Â

Warning!!!!

NOTE:- Please make the backup of Registry whenever you make tweak on it.

Someday ago I was just tweaking my machine…i.e. windows 7….and it just gave me impact of gadget window disappear….whenever I try to open the gadget Window by right click on the desktop, to select the gadget I get no response…it was like I was having misfire every time. To fix it I ran out through the registry to the system files and etc….but it was too easy…I have never expect that it could be happen… I just checked my UAC it was disable…and that was the cause for misfire in the gadget windows of mine.Here I am providing some reasons why you cannot get you gadget window appear.

1. Due to disable in you UAC.

To fix it just simply go to your control panel in USER ACCOUNTS and enable the UAC.

note:- Never late your machine UAC disable…..it create a security hole. if someone suggest to disable UAC then it would be the most worst idea anyone can suggest you.

2. Feature of Gadget might be off.

To fix it go to control panel —> Program and Features

on the right of this window you can see the ‘Turn windows feature on or off’ click on it…and wait for while….it will take some time to load the contents….scroll down in this window you can see the ‘Windows Gadget Platform’ just make a check mark on it.viola…. now you can play with your gadget.

Active Directory Lightweight Version (AD LDS) is now available for Windows 7 also.AD LDS provides directory services for directory-enabled application. Administrators will be able to see this version without the domain control oversight.AD LDS comes with support for Windows 7 Enterprise; Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate.

AD LDS independently provides directory storage and access for applications, so AD LDS uses the same standard application programming interfaces (APIs) as the full functioning Active Directory to manage and access the application data. The benefit for application that requires directory services, but do not require the complete infrastructure features of Active Directory is less overhead at the client level.

Active Directory Technologies: Full and Lightweight

Administrators have a choice of which DS to use. Both AD LDS and AD DS use the same core directory service technologies, but they are designed to address different needs in an organization.

Domain and Forest: The structure of AD DS allows it to be used throughout the entire forest. This provides directory services for both the Windows server operating system and for directory-enabled applications. For the server operating system, AD DS stores critical information about the network infrastructure, users and groups, network services, and so on.

Applications: AD LDS provides directory services specifically for directory-enabled applications. AD DS domains or forests are not necessary. However, in environments where AD DS exists, AD LDS can use AD DS for the authentication of Windows security principals.

AD LDS and AD DS can run concurrently in the same network. In addition, AD LDS can support both domain users and workgroup users simultaneously.

An instance of Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) is a single running copy of AD LDS. Multiple copies of AD LDS can run simultaneously on the same computer. This is not true for AD DS, the full service. This improves availability and load balancing when instances are replicated across multiple servers. Multiple instances of AD LDS have their own separate directory, as well as a unique service name, and a unique service description that is assigned when the instance is created. Duplication or conflicts are avoided this way.

Problem may occur like Application Conflicts in remote desktop services deployments. Servers begin to containt he applications within the servers and this may isolate and prevent the application from running as intended.so,to resolve sucha kind of problem Microsoft has released the Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for Remote Desktop Support Program.This program is designed to provide assistance to solve application compatibility issues on Remote Desktop Session Hosts or Terminal Servers.Now in recent Microsoft has released Version App-V for RDS 4.6, which also support 64-bit operating systems.

As the most of the operation now a days employ remote system service. To avoid the applicaiton conflicts, a significant amout of testing must occur which can determine what application will create the collision and must be seperated from the run on different session host servers.

It helps consolidate remoe desktop session host servers to solve the conflicting operation. It offers several features and benefits:
–>Reduce app-to-app and multi-user application conflicts which reduces the need for regression testing
–>By reducing the deployment risk you can make the deployment faster.
–>It will also simplify profile management
–>64-bit Operating systems is also supported.

The Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6 program set, is a part of the Desktop Optimization Pack(MDOP 2010). Companies with Remote Desktop Services deployments (also known as Terminal Services), can already start leveraging App-V 4.6 for RDS, which, was formerly known as App-V for Terminal Services.

Other Benefits

Productivity improvements: It will immediately free up administration time from IT and enhance end-user productivity.
Tighter integration with other Microsoft products: Office 2010, SCCM, and other 3rd Party Distribution Systems
Support for 32 and 64 bit application and the x86 and 64 bit platform are also available.
You can download the Microsoft Application Virtualization for Remote Desktop Services here.

Installing Windows 7 is not a big issue for anyone now, especially when there is compatibility and support for it. But if there arise compatibility or support problem then it is no more simple task. Microsoft have just released that, Windows 7 fails to play nice with machine that have an AMD/ATIÂ Radeon graphics processing unit (GPU) leveraging the embedded DisplayPort (eDP) technology. Many user had attempted to install Windows 7 on such PC but they were unable to complete the deployment.

When they install Windows 7 on the Computer, a black screen does appear during the installation process. that’s the problem…..but the installation under goes inside the black screen. and at this situation, you may not be able to complete installation.

Here some list of AMD/ATI Radeon GPU’s that are affected by this issues mentioned above.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480); ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 (PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488); ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 (PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_945A); ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850 (PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_944A) and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9552).

Also looking at the solution for this problem….i have found the solution…., this is basically for the advanced users involving the AutoUnattend.xml answer file and the latest graphics driver and a USB flash drive. Copy the uncompressed graphics driver on the USB flash drive. To do this, follow these steps:

Download the latest driver for your graphics adapter from the AMD Web site. Run the downloaded program (.exe) to extract the driver. The program will prompt for an installation location, such as c:\ati\support\. After the extraction is complete, locate the installation folder that is noted in the previous step. Copy the installation folder onto the USB flash drive.

Users will also need to create the AutoUnattend.xml answer file, by opening a Notepad file and copy the text highlighted in blue color below. This file has to be saved as AutoUnattend.xml using the UTF-8 encoding format, and then i needs to be copied to the root of the USB. Now From the Windows 7 installation DVD, start the computer that has the AMD Radeon GPU that uses eDP.Immediately connect the USB flash drive after the computer starts from DVD. Follow the instructions to complete the installation process. When the system restarts for the first time, disconnect the USB flash drive.

Here is the text for the AutoUnattend.xml answer file just copy, Paste and save the file as mentioned above.

<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”utf-8″?>

<unattend xmlns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend”>

<servicing></servicing>

<settings pass=”windowsPE”>

<component name=”Microsoft-Windows-PnpCustomizationsWinPE” processorArchitecture=”x86″ publicKeyToken=”31bf3856ad364e35″ language=”neutral” versionScope=”nonSxS” xmlns:wcm=”http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State” xmlns:xsi=”http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance”>

<DriverPaths>

<PathAndCredentials wcm:keyValue=”1″ wcm:action=”add”>

<Path>%configsetroot%</Path>

“I do have a background of .JPG Pic”…….if any one say this to you then you feel normal…… that can be done by everyone…….but what if some one came and say I do have media file running on my desktop background as wallpaper………ummmm you say this is exciting.Yes this is possible, you can make your favorite media file running in you desktop background as wallpaper.

I had almost forgotten that we have used the animated picture as our background wallpaper in Windows Vista. Some Few Days ago one of my friend make me remind of this….and then I started to search over it for Windows 7 also, so i can use on it also………and then i found the application name DreamScene

Windows DreamScene, a feature which allows a video clip, movie show, slideshow or animated image and picture to be set as the desktop background in Windows Vista has been removed in Windows 7, in favor of Desktop Slideshow wallpaper auto rotator.

Â

How to Install DreamScene in Windows 7

Run the Windows7-DreamScene.exe as Administrator to install and enable Windows DreamScene on Windows 7. The installer will copy DreamScene.dll to %WinDir%\System32 folder, DreamScene.dll.mui to %WinDir%\System32\en-US folder and add the required registry keys and values. Then it will automatically restart the Explorer to make the installation of DreamScene works immediately.

A Windows DreamScene folder has also been created in %WinDir%\Web\ folder. You can place any video file that you want to set as DreamScene background wallpaper here as in Windows Vista, or anywhere you like. However, the folder is less useful as Windows 7 does not support direct viewing of video or animated media in Personalization Control Panel.

Â

To apply a video clip (in .WMV or .MPG format) as the DreamScene animated wallpaper desktop background, right click on the video media file, and select Set as Desktop Background in the context menu. Due to DreamScene been stripped from Windows 7 issue, video files may not be visible inside Personalization and Desktop Background configuration page. However, all features of DreamScene, such as Play DreamScene and Pause DreamScene are supported.

Tip: To run DreamScene in Windows 7, Windows Aero has to be turned on.

Click Here to Download.

Hey guys Have you ever tried to create your own gadget in your Vista…………..Try this it will be fun and really nice………..You can show your friend as “This is my own gadget”……It’s too simple.

Gadget are nothing moreover than a little but powerful handy tool. you might get surprised when you know how easy they are to create. In fact, if you know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you’re well on your way.

Â

In short if I have to say what is Gadget, then  simply I say it is made of nothing more than of a HTML and XML defination files. There may be some gadgets which include other files like PNG and JPEG for image and also STYLE SHEETS (CSS), and too some scripting languages.All of these are collected in file and that is just ends with name as *.gadget (ie weather.gadget).

 Now to create the gadget you need two things specially they are

1. A “manifest” file named Gadget.xml. This manifest contains all the settings for your gadget, including the gadget name, author and copyright information, and information about the HTML page that makes up the actual gadget.

2. An HTML file (for example, Test.htm). Although they might not look like it, gadgets are really nothing more than HTML files: you simply create an HTML file, add the appropriate tags and script code, and you’ve got yourself a gadget.

Â

You may have a Question how can I have these files but don’t worry abt this coz I have got a example of  Manifest file you can just copy and save it in Gadget.XML.Here below is a “manifest” file

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - -Â

<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”utf-8″ ?>

<gadget>

 <name>My First Gadget</name>

   <author>The Microsoft Scripting Guys</author>

   <copyright>2006 Microsoft Corporation</copyright>

   <description>Sample gadget that returns the name of the installed operating system.</description>

   <icons>

       <icon>icon.png</icon>

   </icons>

   <version value=”1.0.0.0″ MinPlatformVersion=”0.1″></version>

   <sidebar>

       <type>html</type>

       <permissions>full</permissions>

       <code>test.htm</code>

       <website>www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter</website>

    </sidebar>

</gadget>

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - -Â

Before you ask, yes, you can simply copy this file and use it pretty much as-is, just making changes (as needed) to a few of the tag values. (And don’t forget, you must name the file Gadget.xml.) The tags you might want to/need to modify are specified in the following table:

Tag

Description

<name>

Name of the gadget as it appears in the gadget picker dialog box.

<author>

Name of the person who wrote the gadget. The author, copyright, and description tags all appear in the gadget picker when you click on a particular gadget. For details, see the illustration shown below.

<copyright>

Copyright information, including name of the copyright holder and copyright date.

<description>

Brief description of the gadget and what it does.

<icon>

Name of the icon file (the icon is the graphic displayed in the gadget picker). For more on icons, see Creating an Icon in the following subsection of this document.

<code>

Probably not the most intuitive tag name in the world, but this is the name of the HTML file that makes up your gadget.

<website>

Web site associated with the gadget.

And also I have got a example of one HTML file…… You can just copy and use this one

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - -Â

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - – - – - -Â Â

Now it has been need of every people working in desktop to have more workspace…..Due to the lack of workspaces people are purchasing the wide screen as well as big screen monitors. and people having low budgets are having trouble with low workspace in desktop. Now not to worry to those guys we have small monitors……Now the technology has reached to multiple virtual desktop on your single desktop with efficient work.

Â

Â

Here the concept of Cube desktop comes for windows. Cube desktop contains six virtual and independent desktops, increasing the space you have to work and play. It’s 3D technology to quickly show, switch and move windows between desktops is the best feature.

Some key features of “Cube Desktop’s” are:

· Virtual desktops
· Cube Desktop creates six virtual and independent desktops, increasing the space you have to work and play.
· 3D effects
· Use the 3D cube to preview, switch or move windows to another desktop. Or just for fun.
· Improve your Windows Vista experience. CubeDesktop is the best Vista addon so far, adding to your desktop incredible 2D and 3D effects.
· Windows and desktops update in realtime, like Windows Vista new thumbnails, but in true 3D.
· Impress everybody that looks at your computer and change the way you work with it!
· Moving windows between desktops
· CubeDesktop offers various ways to move applications amongst desktops.
· Drag a window near the edge of the screen to show the 3D cube and drop it on the desktop of your choice.
· “SendTo” menu items integrated into all applications’ system menus allow you to send applications to the desired desktop.
· You can also use hotkeys to move the selected window to another desktop.
· Live preview
· CubeDesktop is not like the classic utilities for Windows. Everything is live. When you switch between desktops using the 3D interface or the desktop explorer, you see a live preview of what’s happening. All windows update in realtime, allowing you to see what you’re really looking for.
· Window organization
· Open the full graphical desktop preview to see all desktops at the same time. Every window is just one click away. Move them between desktops in a hurry.
· Autosend rules allow you to move windows to one desktop automatically when they open. When this happens, a notification bubble hint will inform you, no need to look for it!
· Desktop customization
· Every single desktop may have its own wallpapers, icons and name. Change your Windows wallpaper as usual and arrange your icons using your favourite layout on every single desktop, CubeDesktop just remembers everything when you switch between desktops.
· CubeDesktop also includes an integrated icon manager, allowing you to quick and easily which icons are shown on every desktop.
· Switch between tasks faster than ever before
· Switch between tasks using Window Exposer. With a single keypress or mouse move, Window Exposer instantly tiles all of your open windows, scales them down and neatly arranges them, so you can see what’s in every single one. This feature brings to your Windows Vista desktop the most impressive Mac OS X Expos?-like experience.
· Hot corners
· Just move the mouse pointer over the screen edges and watch how the action you configured gets executed.
· Advanced visualization effects
· CubeDesktop uses advanced 2D and 3D techniques like animation with physical dynamics, transparency, reflection, lighting and antialiasing.
· All effects are fully configurable. 3D visualization also allows you to set personalized backgrounds and 360? panoramic skyboxes.
· 3D Windows Explorer
· 3D Desktop Flip
· Password protected access to virtual desktops
· Automatically start applications on specific desktops
· Change Windows Exposer appearance options
· Modify the background for 3D Windows Explorer and 3D Desktop Flip

“Aero Peek” is a new feature in Windows 7 which has replaced the old “Show Desktop” shortcut. It can be found as a small rectangle present at the end of Taskbar. When you hover the mouse cursor over it, it allows you to peek behind all open windows by hiding all windows and showing only outlines of all windows.

The default delay time to preview Desktop is set to 1 second by default but sometimes it gets annoying when you accidentally hover your mouse over it.

Today we are sharing a small registry trick which can be used to adjust this delay time. You can set the delay time to 2,3 or more seconds according to your requirements.

So here I do have a procedure.

1. Type regedit in RUN or Startmenu Searchbox and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. In right-side pane, create a new DWORD value DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime

4. Now you’ll need to set its value to your desired delay time. Double-click on it and select “Base” as Decimal and enter the desired value. Remember the value should be given in milliseconds, so if you want to set the delay time to 4 seconds, set the value to 4000

5. That’s it. Log off or restart your system to take effect.

Tips:- If you want to restore default settings, simply delete “DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime” DWORD value created in Step 3.

Download Regedit here.
